Climate disruption was a distant reality and still questioned by some, today it occupies the daily life of each of us. In France this summer: widespread heat waves, forest fires in the Bordeaux region, the millennium storm in Corsica, the worrying melting of Mont Blanc, ,…destroying tens of thousands of hectares, including in territories hitherto spared, Monsoon rains have submerged a third of Pakistan and caused the death of over 1,100 people.
In 2050, 1 billion people will live in flood-prone areas threatened by rising water levels and episodes of marine submersion during storms; today, between 3.3 and 3.6 billion people are already highly vulnerable to global warming.
This is a vital issue that affects our economy, our health and our safety.
Faced with the acceleration of environmental disruption, the most vulnerable countries are also the least equipped with the appropriate technological means. Their inability to foresee, estimate and then react in real time to natural disasters greatly increases the severity of the toll.
TO RESPOND TO THIS CRITICAL CONTEXT, PROMETHEUS HAS SET ITSELF THE MISSION OF OFFERING ITS CLIENTS SOVEREIGN ENVIRONMENTAL AND STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE RESOURCES (SERVICES OR INFRASTRUCTURES), BASED ON CONSTELLATIONS OF NANOSATELLITES ASSOCIATED WITH DIGITAL PLATFORMS ADAPTED AND OPTIMIZED TO CURRENT ISSUES.
Prométhée innovates by deploying end-to-end space sovereignty solutions, i.e. including space segment, command and control center and aggregative digital platform. The space segment integrates advanced functionalities in Artificial Intelligence and the development of innovative digital services is based on the concept of multi-source data fusion.
The combination of latest generation optical technologies (revolutionary in their miniaturization and performance) allows Prometheus to offer high resolution imaging services, with a worldwide coverage and a revisit rate never reached before.
In addition to the traditional space segment (satellites, launchers, operational data exploitation…), Prométhée offers countries total control of their own digital application platform, with French know-how in big data, artificial intelligence, deep learning and blockchain. This approach is a real growth driver and is based on digital skills centers developed in the host countries, thus enabling them to meet their local agenda while preparing their industry and workforce for the new challenges of the digital revolution.
In the environmental, security and defense fields, the challenge is to have observation satellite data that can respond promptly and appropriately to operational issues, while preserving the human and technical potential of the players involved. The persistent nature of the observation resulting from the high frequency of revisit, allows both to consolidate the informational superiority and to optimize the decision-making process thanks to the development of a complete and accessible service, for reduced infrastructure costs.
After having federated a consortium of industrialists, Prométhée has set up its technical team of about fifty engineers and collaborators with extensive experience in space and its applications. An Advisory Board of 20 leading personalities in space, digital, sustainable development and security.
Only 18 months after a first fundraising of 2.2 million euros, Prométhée closed in April 2022 a second one of 4.72 million euros, the first part of a financing that should reach 20 million euros before the end of the year with the expected participation of strategic investors, public funds and a regional banking pool.
Prométhée has benefited from the unfailing support of the CNES and BPI since its inception, as well as from the support of regional competitive clusters, which have enabled it to successfully develop its first geospatial service models, within the framework of France Relance, such as “Carbon Tracker”, which measures carbon sequestration, and “Prométhée Health”, a Deep Tech-labeled prevention solution for tele-epidemiology risks.
In March 2022, the construction of ProtoMéthée-1 started, the first Prométhée satellite will be launched in October 2023.
On August 2, 2022, CNES, the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Recovery decided to participate in the financing of the dual demonstrator of the JAPETUS by Prométhée constellation within the framework of the France Relance plan and by the European Union within the framework of NextGenerationEU.
This first European Earth observation constellation will offer exceptional performance in terms of revisit, hyperreactvity, on-board Artificial Intelligence and data aggregation, thus guaranteeing a geographical and temporal permanence never reached before (global coverage and revisit frequency 10 times higher than what exists in Europe).
